The Ins and Outs of Internet Marketing

WOW! I'm actually going to be a hubber........call me Mr. Hubber.

Welcome aboard, nice of you to drop in to my hub. What I will try to do here is guide you on your journey to your business in internet marketing. As you know, Internet Marketing is a relatively easy way to make money at home, used by stay at home mothers, stay at home fathers, college students or anyone who is looking for that extra income. You can eventually fire your boss if you treat this right, that is as a real business and not just a get rich quick method. If you would invest in say, a McDonald's Franchise for a bit over $1 million dollars, would you implicate yourself seriously? I know I would!

Let me start by popping your bubble. You can not get rich quickly on internet marketing, just like you can not get rich quickly in stock, futures or forex investments, gambling in casinos or betting on horses! Why do I say this? Because people live on desperation and hope. Most people don't like their jobs and would like to lead better lives financialy. This isn't a blame, I'm one of those. But just like the lottery, your chances of making it big in a very short period of time are next to none! Anybody who tells you differently is a liar!!!!!! I've bean there and tried that and they don't work!

That reminds me of a story my dad told me. He was talking to a new aquaintance and the subject happened to fall on police officers. Remeber, my father had just met this gentleman. How they got onto the subject, I don't know but my father told this gentleman that police officers were great liars! With some reasoning, he was right. In order to extract information from people, police officers will tell them what they want to hear. That way, there confidence in the police officer grows as 'common bonds' are created. The funny part in all this is that the gentleman whom my father was talking to was a retired police chief, which my father didn't know. The gentleman laughed it off, feeling a bit uncomfortable at first but finally agreeing with me father that every good police officer is a good liar. Who would have taught?

Now back to my main topic here. If a trustworthy police officer is a good liar, do you think that an internet marketer selling you the latest method to get rich quickly is honest? All he wants is your money! Remember that, these people have no scrupples when it comes to money. They are selling on your desperation and hope....basically abusing your trust in a time when you are most susceptible to falling in their trap.

So if you taught you can get rich quickly on the internet, think again. That being said, the next question is 'Can one make decent money

on the internet'? The answer to that is YES!!!!!! By the way, I'm not there yet but I am definitely getting there! So once someone knows that you can make decent money on the internet, but that they also know that IT WON'T BE QUICK. you can start to build your business on solid foundations. Like in any business, you are going to have to work at it hard!

In this capsule, we will see what is needed to get into internet marketing. The first thing, is to have your own domain setup. Whether you publish your domain for public viewing or keep it strickly for private viewing is relevant only to the type of online marketing you will do.

So what are the types of online marketing? Now remember, I don't pretend to know everything there is to know about internet marketing, but I will forward all information that I have or get through time so that you may benefit. Remeber in my first capsule, there is no get rich quick opportunities that deliver in a short time. Anything you do will need from you a commitment, to keep going no matter what, to always stay positive about what you are doing (we call this mindset) and most importantly, TO FOLLOW THROUGH. If you buy a book but don't read it, all you have done is waist money! Whereas, if you study that book over and over until you know it by heart, your investment will be returned tenfold.

So let's get back on track here......the internet marketing plans that I know of are

- MLM which is Multi Level Marketing. Right away, people tend to view this as illegal pyramids. But remember, to be an illegal pyramid, there is no product that is actually sold. Basically people pay just to go up in the pyramid. STAY AWAY FROM THIS AS THIS IS ILLEGAL!!!

- MLM plans, legal MLM opportunities are those that offer a product or service to sell. As long as people are getting something tangible in return for what they pay, a commercial transaction has taken place making everything ligit. These types of opportunities can be very rewarding as a person moves up in rank.

The trick here is to get into an opportunity that is backed by a strong company, that has a great product that actually works. Once you have found this product, you have to use it. It is worthless to try and sell someone else on a product if you aren't convinced of its usefullness.

For example, List Bandit (http://www.listbandit.com/index.php/redbull) is a product that lets you email its members on any product you may hold or to simply invite them to visit your site. Now like every other program out there, you get different levels of memberships that normally range from free to premium. It is always important to check out what you get exactly for every level as you might be leaving alot of money on the table. So, the list bandit actually puts you in a matrix resembling a multi-level matrix. What makes it unique, is that they shuffle the matrix everyday so you can end up at the top levels by pure hassard. This would permit you to email all members under you for that particular day as shuffles are done everyday. So this concept is good and you can sign up for free.

An other type of MLM setup can be found at Direct Matches, This is like a social site (ie: myspace) but for business people. All types of business categories are covered so whether you are in an online business or import-export, or whatever else, you can make great contacts here. Now a bit earlier I was telling you about looking at your options for getting a membership. In the case of Direct Matches, they go from free membership to two types of paid membership. If you get a paid membership, you get services such as advertising and News Press release service. So depending on your needs, it might be better off for you to actually suscribe as a paid member. On top of services they offer, you are set up in a multi-level matrix where new members come in beneath you, whether you invited them in or your downline has done so. With a paid membership, on top of getting premium services, you get commissions on new premium signups on a monthly basis. Basically, in the least you get your premium subcription for free.

I just noticed by reading over my last capsule that I really got sidetracked on the objective of the capsule. However, the information posted there is really usefull so owe it to yourself to check it out.

Back to domains. If you want to do online marketing, you have no choice in setting yourself up with a domain of your own. The basic reason for having your own domain is to be able to collect a list of potential customers and active cusotmers. This way, you are building your business for years to come and not just for one-time sales. Once someone buys from you and they have been served well, they tend to trust you so whenever you contact them for a new product that you have, there is a good chance they will buy as you have gained their trust.

One of the ways to gain someone's trust is to give away free products. Products such as e-books or programs are readily available online for free. Once you pick up an e-book for example, you can modify it or 'REBRAND' it to be your own, giving you the opportunity to pass it on to your customers for free.

Having your own website also permits you to profit from the traffic that your site generates through time. As you promote and get more and more people to visit your site, search engines such as google and yahoo! pick up your site as being popular (frequently visited) following searchs by internet users. The more people go to your site, the higher up in search results your site becomes. This eventually gives value to your site because an important factor on the internet is the ability to generate traffic to ones site.

One opportunity that develops with time, is the ability to sell ad space on our site once the site is very popular. This is a source of very good income that can't be neglected.

So how do we get started in building a web-site? The first thing to do is put down on paper your ideas for your site. These include what type? Will it be a storefront or informational site? Is it business or personal? Now don't think it is obvious that it will be a business site because you are getting into internet marketing! A personal site that captivates the readers interest is just as good if not better than a business site. Reason being that your readers don't feel pushed into buying something but instead are captivated by knowledge you supply them. This creates an important relationship between them and you and once that trust is built, you can then make certain suggetions on products that may suit them. You may think of setting up a second site to sell your products and casually refer your readers from the first site to take a look at the second.

As you see, this is all a question of building trust!

Okay, so now you have your plan on paper to start your site. You now need 2 things, a domain name and a hosting service. The domain name you choose should reflect what your site is about. Try to get something really snazzy as a name. Not too long but something fun. Domain names can be purchased through a variety of different 'registrars' on the net. Just do a search under domain names and look at the results you will get. The price is around $20 per year, but you will see prices vary more or less from this figure. In this case, you don't get more even if you pay more, so be warned, a name is a name.

Now what happens if the name you thought up is already taken? Here is a hot tip for you. There is this one company who was granted as the official registrar for dot ws domain names. Basically, this is the start of the new dot com version. They basically run the book on all websites ending in .ws. This is important to know as less and less names are available in .com, dot WS permits you to get any name you can possible dream up of! So if you want your site to be called SUPERMAN.WS, just go and check and it is almost guaranteed to be available! Now think of all the possibilities, you can have for example pierretremblay.ws as your web site name(your replace my name by your name). The cost for this is $10 per month and you get the site hosting service included. The other neat thing here is you may sign up as their affiliate and generate commissions for life on any sales made through your referals. You also have access to site building tools that are easy to use through them.You can access them through my Hub set up specifically on this subject.

My next recommendation is Startlogic. This is a web hosting service provider through which you can buy your domain name. Again, you get website building tools as well as unlimited email adresses for your monthly fee. The site is user freindly and has a customer service through direct chatline that is available 24hrs per day, 7 days a week. You might not realize it but customer service is a very important aspect to consider because if you hit a problem, it could get very frustrating to not be able to get a solution quickly. The next type of hosting service I can propose is VodaHost. This is a service provider that is one up on service providers such as startlogic. By this I mean that you get a "LUXURY" editon, for which you will pay a little bit more. It's like paying for quality. Basically, VodaHost gives you a full video tutorial library with more options to intergrate into your web pages. This permits you to get really creative to produce a spectacular site. On top of that, VodaHost provides you with BlueVoda site builder which is unique in itself. The site builder is free by the way when you host your site on VodaHost. Their support is great plus they have a forum where their customers come together and help each other in setting up sites. This is very useful as you get help from people who have been where you are. Finally, the last recommendation I can make is SiteSell. This one, just like the previous 2 is a hosting service and domain name reseller, but with quite a different #twist! They provide a system, Site Build It, for you to use in building your site that almost guarantees your site to be in the top 3% of sites on the internet. This is huge as you can imagine. Basicaly, your getting professional site building for a fraction of the cost. If you were to hire a professional to create your site for you, you would pay anywhere between $1500 to $15000 for your site. Through Site Build It, you create your own site using the tools they supply for just a few hundred dollars.
